Where is it?
Benin is located in the heart of West Africa bordering Nigeria to the east, Togo to the west and Burkina Faso and Niger to the north.
Cotonou
Cotonou is the largest city in Benin located on the south coast. It is sometimes called the de facto capital of the country due to its size. Cotonou is an important economic and trading hub due to its port.
Cotonou is most famous for both its Grand Marché and its large fetish market showcasing many items used in the animist religious practices.
Porto Novo
Porto Novo also known as Hogbonou is the capital of Benin and it is located not far to the north of Cotonou.
Ouidah
Ouidah is a must see on any trip to Benin and is known as the heart of Voodoo in Benin and therefore West Africa.
Abomey
Abomey is located north of Cotonou close to the central region and historically was the centre of the Dahomey Kingdom.
