What to Pack for Benin

Clothing

It is best to pack loose fitting clothing to keep yourself cool on your trip to Benin. Depending on the time or year and region you are visiting it could also be wet season so it would be a good idea to pack a rain jacket or umbrella.

Footwear

Closed in shoes are a good idea when walking around the streets due to the nature of the footpaths and holes in the roads. If visiting in wet season you may want to opt for sandals or waterproof shoes as you will definitely get wet!

Medications

The entire country of Benin is considered a malaria zone, so take this into account when deciding on any malarial medications you're taking to combat this, and it's a very sensible idea to bring bug spray and long trousers/pants for the evenings. It would also be a good idea to bring some Imodium or other stomach related medications if you are sensitive to getting sick when travelling. Hydrolyte packets are also great if you do come down with a bug.

Luggage

If you are joining us on tour, you can bring whatever type of luggage you like from a backpack to a suitcase with or without wheels. Many hotels however may not have a working elevator or maybe have a very small one, so you may want to factor this in if you have trouble carrying your bag.
