© SAIGA Tours
This tour is for those who want to really go out of the ordinary and see parts of Syria that very few people ever visit. Perfect for returners who have visited Syria either during the Assad regime, or have focused on more "normal" routes through the country, we'll still be paying visits to our Syrian highlights such as Damascus and Palmyra so if it's your first time don't worry, you won't miss out.
Starting and ending in Beirut, Lebanon, we'll explore everything that Damascus has to offer - from the vibrant nightlife, to the damaged buildings in the suburbs, to the picturesque Damascene architecture of the old town.
We'll visit Palmyra, a spectacular Roman ruin site frought with trouble in recent years, yet still standing strong and fascinating to explore.
Making a loop around the little-explored eastern part of the country, we'll visit Raqqa, Deir al Zor and Rasafa, places that until recently was not safe or possible for tourism. This will be a particularly exciting part of the tour - if you thought Syria was an unusual destination or off-the-beaten-path, this part of the country takes that to a whole new level.
From here we'll make our way to Aleppo and then Idlib, another part of Syria that it's only begun being possible to visit very recently (though most of our Syria tours now go through Idlib).
From here we'll wind our way back to Damascus with stops in Maaloula, Homs, Krak des Chevaliers, eventually finding ourselves back in Beirut to finish the tour.
If you like the look of this tour but the dates don't work for you, or you'd like to do part of the tour, please get in touch and let us know. All our tours are able to be split into smaller sections, we're always scheduling new tours and your dates might work for one of them, or we can always organise an independent tour.
