Here is our guide to the
Nigerian e-visa
and here is our guide to the
Malian e-visa
.

Who needs a visa for Cameroon?
Everyone who wants to travel to Cameroon will require a visa except citizens of the following countries:
-
Central African Republic;
-
Chad;
-
Republic of Congo;
-
Equatorial Guinea;
-
Gabon
-
Mali; and
-
Nigeria.
Everyone else is required to apply for a visa online through the e-visa portal or via a Cameroonian embassy.
Which website do I use to apply online?
You can apply directly through the e-visa portal through this link:
https://www.evisacam.cm/ords/dl_portal/r/public_portal/home
Please be aware that there are many third-party websites out there that will act like the official site and will charge extra fees to use their service. You are better off going through the official site as you will only need to pay your visa fees and won’t be charged a service fee.
What documents do I need?
To apply for the Cameroon e-visa you will be required to upload the following documentation:
-
Passport copy.
-
Proof of purpose for the visit (this can be in the form of an LOI from a local tour operator).
-
Return flight tickets.
-
Proof of accommodation (a screenshot from a booking.com reservation will be enough).
-
Proof of residence (any document showing your current residential address will be fine).
-
Proof of profession (this can be a letter from your employer (self-written is fine) or even just a picture of your business card).
-
Yellow fever vaccination certificate; and
-
Proof of sufficient means of subsistence (a bank statement will be fine with at least $USD 3000).
How much is it?
There are different prices based off how long you want to visit for and also based of visa processing times. Here is the current price list:
-
Normal short stay visa €153 (valid for 1 to 180 days)
-
Normal short stay visa express service €229 ( 1 to 180 days)
-
Long stay visa €305 (181 to 360 days)
-
Transit visa €153 (4-30 days).
How long does it take?
There are varying reports however it seems that if you do the regular process you can expect it to take between 5 days to 3 weeks, with most people reporting that they received their visa within 2 weeks of applying.
For the express service you should expect to receive your visa within 48 hours.
What are some known issues about the visa process?
Sometimes they may come and ask you for different information based of the documents you have submitted. Even if you are travelling with someone else, they may only ask one of you for these documents and sometimes there is not much reason a to why they require certain pieces of information.
Here is an example situation of what happened to us. I was flying from Togo to Cameroon and had uploaded my entry and exit flights. I was then requested to show my flight from Australia to Togo, however I wasn’t in Australia beforehand, so I had to make up ticket just for this leg. My colleagues however, who were also travelling on Australian passports and were also not on flights connecting from Australia, were not asked for the same documents.
This may depend on the officer at the time who is looking at your application. It might make no sense, just do your best with the information they ask for.
What to do on arrival into Cameroon?
On arrival into one of Cameroon’s airports the process is very easy. Hand over your printed out visa form and then they will take your fingerprints and then place the sticker into your passport. There is no need to pay any extra amount when you arrive as the via fee has already been paid at the time of application.
Can I use this at land borders?
Yes, your e-visa can be used to cross into Cameroon at a land border and also by boat if you are taking the long ferry from Malabo, Equatorial Guinea.
