Syria New Visa Fees July 2025

July 6, 2025

As of the 6 th of July 2025, the visa fees for entering Syria have been updated and, in general, increased for all passports. The new fee structure is clearly aimed to increase revenue, while also sending a message as to who their friends are (see the new $400 USD visa fee for Iranian passport holders!).

Fees are applicable for both 1 month tourist/visitor entry visas, as well as transit visas. The same fees apply whether crossing a land border or arriving at an international airport.

All visa fees are to be paid in US dollars.

It is interesting to note that although the new transitional government has declared that Syria is opening up to the world and will be encouraging international engagement, that it is making visiting Syria more prohibitive cost-wise. There have also been recent reports of individuals and groups being turned away at the border arbitrarily. It’s not clear whether this is a directive from the central government or the whim of low-level guards and administration making up their own rules.

The new transitional government of Syria took over after the fall of the Assad regime in December 2024. This is the second round of visa fee changes already in 2025.

It is reported that this will also have a huge effect on Syrians visiting their home after 14 years of war, as more than half the Syrian population now lives outside of the country, with a large percentage now using a foreign passport.

Despite the American government recently dropping sanctions against the Syrian government and encouraging regional engagement, US passports have been allocated one of the highest fees.

Below is the list of passports and the new fees they will need to pay in order to enter Syria:
