It was announced today in a historical joint press conference in the capital of Kazakhstan - Nur-Sultan (formerly Astana) that the Republic of Kazakhstan and the Kyrgyz Republic are to unite into a single country which is to be called Kyrzakhstan.

Tajikistan is taking tourists and has been for the last year. All you require to travel to Tajikistan is a negative PCR test taken no more than 72 hours before arrival.
Uzbekistan is now completely open to foreign visitors, but not that many have been coming. So guess what that means… the usually extremely busy tourist sites are there to be enjoyed without contending with large crowds. Excellent for us!
Unfortunately for those of us who really love Turkmenistan, or those who are hoping to go there for the first time, Turkmenistan is going to remain closed to foreigners for the near future.
Kyrgyzstan continues to remain open to almost all nationalities, as it was throughout 2021.
Visa free rules for many countires come back into effect from February 2022.
