TOUR OVERVIEW

We'll start this tour exploring Africa's largest country, Algeria. Beginning in Algiers, we'll see a mix of the old, in the winding alleyways of the Kasbah, and the new, with sites like Djamma el Djazaïr (the mosque that houses the world's tallest minaret). We'll then journey to Constantine where we'll see the city's famous hanging bridges and stunning cliffside views. We'll dive back in time as we travel through the historical Roman ruins of Tipaza and Timgad. We'll then make our first of two visits to the Sahara by venturing down south to Djanet to see some of the most stunning desert scenery in all of North Africa.

As a bonus, we'll make a stop in Tunisia before we continue on to Libya! We'll see the beautiful blue and white city of Side Bou Said (often likened to a Santorini with no tourists!) and explore the meandering streets of Tunis' Medina.

From there we will fly to Tripoli. We'll experience the main sights and tastes that the city has to offer before heading south to the city of Ghadames, making stops to see unique Berber architecture along the way. In Ghadames, we'll visit the fascinating and recently-abandoned old city, before we head to Libya's epic Saharan sand dunes for sunset. After our return to Tripoli, we'll see the highlight of any trip to Libya - Leptis Magna. This is one of the largest ancient Roman cities outside of Italy, and we'll likely be the only tourists there!

The next day is the day we're all waiting for - Revolution Day! We'll start the day by exploring the ancient ruins of Sabratah, where we'll see one of the most majestic and well-preserved Roman theatres in the world. After that, we'll head back to Tripoli where we'll gather in the main square to participate in the exciting evening festivities.
