TOUR OVERVIEW

Our journey starts in the capital city of Tripoli were we'll experience the main sights and tastes this city has to offer. Tripoli has been making a lot of changes lately, and we'll visit the newly reopened Red Castle, and the recently renovated Martyrs' Square to see locals enjoying themselves, while of course making stops for excellent gelato and espresso!

From there, we'll head west to explore the ancient ruins of Sabratah, where we'll see one of the most majestic and well-preserved Roman theatres in the world. We'll then head south to the city of Ghadames, making several stops to see unique Berber architecture along the way. In Ghadames, we'll visit the fascinating and recently-abandoned old city, before we head to Libya's epic Saharan sand dunes where we can participate in the thrill of dune-bashing, or just enjoy the views and watch the sunset.

After our return to Tripoli, we'll see the highlight of any trip to Libya - Leptis Magna. This is one of the largest ancient Roman cities outside of Italy, and we'll likely have it all to ourselves! From there we'll head back to Tripoli for one final night before we say our goodbyes.

This tour is also part of The Extreme North Africa Tour , if you're interested in seeing more of the region while you're there. If you'd like to do a bit more, but don't have time for the whole Extreme North Africa Tour, Libya can also be done in conjunction with Tunisia and Algeria in the Algeria and Libya Winter Combo Tour .
