This journey leans into that energy and then deliberately steps away from it, giving you both the full sensory hit of Nigeria’s largest city and the quieter, deeper pull of the Yoruba heartland inland.

Leaving the megacity of Lagos, the route heads inland to Abeokuta for Olumo Rock (a historic refuge during the 19th-century Yoruba wars with panoramic views), the Alake Palace of the Egba people, and local markets known for fabrics and traditional items. Continuing to Ile-Ife — regarded as the spiritual cradle of the Yoruba people — travellers explore the Sacred Grove of Oduduwa, royal sites, and the towering six-metre Oranmiyan Staff linked to legendary kings who founded both the Benin Kingdom and the Oyo Empire.

A major highlight is the UNESCO World Heritage Sacred Grove of Osun-Osogbo, one of the last surviving tracts of primary high forest in southern Nigeria and still an active place of traditional worship containing more than forty shrines. Returning to Lagos, the tour finishes with the Lekki Conservation Centre and its impressive treetop canopy walkway — the longest in Africa — before a final evening in the city.
